The Romans are coming!!

Inveresk and Musselburgh have a long association with the Romans there having been a fort at Inveresk and a settlement in the surrounding area. Over the years many artifacts of Roman origin have been unearthed during excavations particularly so recently at Lewisvale Park, the development at Tesco and the new Musselburgh Health Centre.

Musselburgh Museum, with objects on loan courtesy of the Trustees of the National Museums Scotland, is mounting a new exhibition telling the story of the Roman fort and settlement in Inveresk and Musselburgh.

The exhibition is open to the public on 17th November and will have over 90 Roman items that have been found locally over the years many of which have never been seen by the public before.

In addition information and photos of the recent finds will also be on display.

This exhibition will generate much interest and will run through the winter until March of 2012.

The Museum is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 3.30pm each day
