Brewing was an important industry in Musselburgh and Scotland generally, indeed it was an important link in the determining the cause of the first outbreak of Cholera in Britain, during which David Macbeth Moir linked the illness to a well as only women & children presented with the disease as they drank mainly water, the men drinking mainly beer.

The exhibition shows the sites of the many breweries, and maltings in the town, some of the equipment used and many other items connected to the industries.

This exhibition is being held in conjunction with Brewing Heritage Scotland and Jim Lawrie a local author of two books about these industries in Musselburgh.
