Museum recent acquisitions

As a result of the many recent acquisitions to the museum collection some of these will be exhibited.

The exhibits include items connected to the paper, net making, wire making, coal mining and fishing industries which were all associated with Musselburgh. There are also items of the social and domestic history of Musselburgh.

Some of the items are:

A Fair Day Race Meeting ledger from 1902.

A christening cape from the 1890’s.

A Death Penny from the 1st World War.

Musselburgh Rifle Volunteer’s belt from 1857.

An ancient axe found at Pinkie.

A Rechabite sash.

Instruments and gauges used in Bruntons and Inveresk paper mill.

Curling Tongs – 1950’s equivalent to hair straighteners.
